YJ Blog: 5 Ways to Challenge Yourself at Home Commentary

Top 0' 'Frige Yoga
I have to post this while I am preparing to do my own at-home yoga session. Here I am in yoga attire and sitting on my mat typing instead of asana-ing. This I why I love yogajournal.com- I find their articles so simpatico. [I just spent another few minutes looking up how to spell "simpatico."] The YJ blogger writes how she likes to use streaming video to make her routine feel more like a class. I agree entirely and the YJ.com videos are great for beginners like me. I laughed when she said she would stop and play with her dog and check her email. I did that, too, only with my cats. It was strange how my normally standoff-ish cats would come and snuggle with me on my yoga mat while I was in some pose. [I attribute that to the serenity I must be radiating ;).] And the beep of a new email always derailed my concentration. I now shut the door and ignore the pawing down the door sounds. I exit from my email before continuing on with my practice. BUT that certainly doesn't mean distractions aren't abundant. I use a room where I keep my plants that are normally outdoors in the spring/summer. While keeping focused at eye-level for a balancing pose I start to wonder; when was the last time I watered those guys? They look like they need rotated. They're all bending toward the window...truly...it's very easy to be distracted. I'm encouraged to know that others share the same difficulty.

***I have GOT to figure out how to shrink that photo at the top of this blog!
